Cleaning processes in a washer/disinfector are based on a complex interaction of the Sinner factors (temperature, chemistry, time, and mechanics). However, even today some mechanisms are little researched or understood, and so fine-tuning is often based on depth of personal experience with cleaning. With 30 years scientific and practical experience in this field, we offer competent know-how in our consultations, to support development or for problem solving. Here, as well as efficiency of processes, material compatibility and economy are of major importance. It is necessary to take these factors into account from the inception of processes right through to their validation. Three decades of activity in the Working Group for Instrument Reprocessing and cooperation in the Guideline committees for Validation of Manual and Automatic Processes yield important knowledge for consultations. Cooperation with many other scientists and experts offers an additional potential reservoir for finding solutions to more complex problems.
